Africanized Killer Bees
As the name suggests these bees have been Africanized and are DEADLY! In the 1950s a Brazillian scientist got the permission from the government to bring over African honeybee's. He had heard that the African's gained a lot of honey from their bees so he crossbreeds a European honey bee with the African bee to see how much honey he could get. Then one day one of his workers thought it would be a good idea to take out the queen excluders from the hives. The queen excluders are the slot in the hive that allows the worker bees to go into the queen bee's chamber but keeps the queen bee inside the hive. So by taking out the queen excluders, 36 queen bees escaped. Even though they had already crossbreed with European honey bees they continued to breed and so that made the bees much more adaptable to a colder climate. Since they are able to adapt to colder climates they decided to move further north. Many of the bees stayed in Arizona a nice hot temperature that they were used to (since they came from Africa and Brazil) but it was the others who kept moving north and kept adapting to the climate changes. The Killer bees are responsible for over 1000 deaths! They attack in swarms then cover one specific
