The Piranha

Hello everyone today I learned about the monsterquest team who taught us about the piranha who are a man eating fish! There is a picture of one to the right and that is the red belly Piranha but there are also many other species of them and they also come in different sizes.

The Piranha can skin the bottom of a boat with their huge and sharp fish teeth they can also eat a goose within minutes if they work together!

You are probably wondering where the piranha lives. Well keep reading and you will find out.
The Piranha live in Texas southern Brazil and other tropical areas. The piranhas' usual home is in the warmer climates of south America. The Piranha's teeth look like the lower picture on the right!

The monsterquest team set out chicken as bate for the Piranha. They waited a while and then came back. No sign of piranha on the chicken, but when check the nets they set out there are a lot of Piranha. They think that they need fresher bate. So they got some fresh chicken. When they came back there were a lot of rips but not from the piranha but by other fish. After that one of the team members went fishing to see some Piranha. You can watch the documentary here on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGIJ247JyuU

The piranha eat big dead things or small live things. Piranhas have flesh eating teeth that can devour within minutes. Piranhas can travel in schools like the blue jacks but they also can travel on their own like the anglerfish.

The fishermen were trying to find out if the piranha can live in the same lake all year round. The answer is yes. Of course they can if it is warm enough but if the winter is less than 55 degrees fahrenheit or 13 degrees celsius they will die. If the Piranha lives in lower than 57 degrees fahrenheit they will turn over on their side because it is so cold that they just cannot stand upright. When the Piranha lives in winter there is not much hunting or scavenging because it seems that where they live over the winter there is a lot of food available.

When you go into the water where they live you should always be careful because you never know if they are together in a school which is very bad because one is bad enough so be careful.

Goodbye everyone  I hope that you will join me next time on my animal adventure which will be about tasmanian devil.
